What Does Yoga Do For Your Body (Part Two)

  1. Better balance

An immense part of yoga is keeping your focus which is what helps you to stay balanced. Whether it’s basic poses or advanced ones, you are always having to use your balance, just at different lengths. Over time, you will notice that you don’t have to concentrate as hard. Your body has naturally adapted to holding your center of gravity.

  2. Improves posture

Poor posture doesn’t only look bad, but it isn’t good for your body either. It can cause back aches, sore neck, and joint pain. Yoga is at the top of the list of things to do to improve poor posture. Something you will hear frequently in yoga is to keep your back tall while you’re sitting or straight when you are bending in certain ways. This helps your body to be more comfortable with the pose you are in, but it also increases the quality of your posture. If you are one that struggles with keeping a nice posture, with continuous practices, you soon won’t have to remind yourself to sit tall.

  3. Better Respiration

As I have already discussed in a previous post, a frequent focus is on your breathing. Taking deeper breaths, being more aware of your breathing, and expanding your lung capacity is all part of the process. This is a great way to help people who may suffer from any respiratory condition because it opens up your airways and clears them out.

  4. Improves Digestion

Yoga doesn’t only affect the muscles that are visible, it helps the muscles that are inside your body that are connected to your intestines. These muscles are what contract to help waste pass. However, if you are not getting enough physical activity, those muscles become to relaxed. Yoga keeps the organs massaged and healthy.

  5. Less Pain

A significant amount of pain we experience throughout the day results from lack of movement. After a short period of practicing yoga, your body will start to return to it’s proper alignment. Chances are, the majority of you pain will dissipate. Yoga is proven to help people with arthritis and carpal tunnel. “Recent scientific studies of people with various types of arthritis show that regular yoga practice can help reduce joint pain.” Remember that it will not happen over night, be patient, remain positive, and keep going!
